Electrotechnical Certification Scheme
The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) is the sole ID and competence card scheme for electrotechnical operatives in the UK and is recognised and endorsed by the industry.
- your qualification status,
- electrotechnical occupations,
- your experience and relevant employer endorsements, your identity,
- your health, safety and environmental awareness,
- adherence to industry CPD requirements and Codes of Professional Practice, and
- any additional disciplines in which you are skilled to work.
ECS is often a requirement for construction sites but is also recognised as the personnel certification scheme of choice across the built environment with a number of public and private sector clients such as councils, NHS trusts, universities, government departments, internet service providers, house builders and social housing organisations, and many more.
The ECS Card Explained
What does the ECS card display? Take a look at our breakdown of what the card shows. The ECS card printing system has recently been updated, which means cards printed now and in the future have a slightly different look to those cards issued before the change in system.
ECS cards issued from the new system display a full colour ECS logo on the front and a barcode on the back. The back of all new cards are white, regardless of the colour on the front of the card. The new cards are also laminated for better durability.
